PhpBB Hosting with IX Web Hosting Test Run

IX Web Hosting claims that running PhpBB forum hosting on its web hosting server is not an issue. Just to make sure that this claim is true, we decided to put IX Web Hosting for PhpBB to the test. Below, you will find the outcome of this test as we experienced it.

Using the IX Web Hosting Unlimited Pro Package, we decide to test install a phpBB forum script. We did so by using the Linux hosting plan, and taking advantage of the IX Web Hosting server. After successfully setting up and running VBulletin at IX Web Hosting, it seems as though a phpBB forum script would also be a success.

The question that we wanted to answer was whether or not IX Web Hosting’s server would be able to run the phpBB forum script properly – we had high hopes. What we found was that the setup and installation was rather tedious thanks to various manual bits.

In order to setup and install the phpBB forum script, we had to download the script, unzip it; and then upload it to the server. Once this process was complete, the rest of the test was fairly smooth.

It appears as though VBulletin scripts tend to take up a lot more processing and resources space. However, the phpBB script used a lot less resources. In conclusion, we found that the IX Web Hosting plan did work as stated.

We were able to browse the phpBB forum, keep things running well, and we were even able to add members, post info, and use the forum as it should be used. What was the result of this initial IX Web Hosting Pro Package/phpBB test? IX does well by its promise to run phpBB forum hosting properly, and without a hitch.
